Grading is a somewhat difficult topic as much depends on the individuals own perception of his or her abilities. The following is intended as a general guide.
Grade A (easy): Walks from 2-4 hrs or cycling up to 50km generally on the flat. These trips can be enjoyed by anyone who leads a reasonably active life and no special preparation is needed.
Grade B (moderate): Walks from 3 – 6 hrs or cycling up to 65km with some more hilly sections or uphill walking included. These trips should nevertheless be no problem for anybody reasonably fit.
Grade C (strenuous): For the more serious and experienced walker or cyclist, includes walks up to 8 hrs and 900m + ascents or cycling up to 100km with longer uphill sections. Stamina is very important here since you should be prepared for several consecutive days of challenging walks/rides.
Grade D (tough): Applies on some of our mountain bike rides only. You should be very fit and prepared for long uphill sections on rough underground. |
