This bike tour combines the rich history of the Big Three of Andalusia: Seville, Cordoba and Granada with enjoyable cycle rides through contrasting landscapes. Our route passes through mountain valleys, olive groves and vineyards, high plains and spectacular canyons. It includes two nights in a unique cave hotel.
Join tour Seville. Arrive and check-in at the hotel.
Seville is the quintessence of Andalusia: flamenco, bullfighting, a passionate Semana Santa (Holy Week) and an architectural heritage dating from Roman, Islamic and Baroque times. On our morning orientation city bike tour we will pass by the most important monuments. The afternoon is free for your own exploration.
Transfer to our first Via Verde, an old railway line converted into a graded bike trail. Enjoy peaceful cycling through the Guadalquivir Valley towards Cordoba. Afternoon orientation tour in Cordoba. Don’t miss out on the stunning Mezquita!
We drive into the Sierra Subbetica where we start riding along another, scenic Via Verde from Lucena to Luque. Later we get back on the bus and transfer to Benalua in the Guadix area north of the Sierra Nevada. Check into our most unusual accommodation built into caves.
Today is dedicated to cycling through the spectacular valleys of the Guadix Hoya, a desert-like landscape reminiscent of Arizona, often used as a movie location for filming Italian Spaghetti Westerns. It’s also an area of archaeological importance where remains of Dinosaurs were found.
A short drive takes us to La Peza from where it’s uphill for a while on a quiet road before we start free-wheeling through excellent mountain scenery to the outskirts of Granada. In the afternoon we go for an orientation walk into the town centre. Today is a great opportunity to relax in an ancient Arabic Bath?
Free day to explore beautiful Granada. After an optional visit of the Alhambra in the morning there is time to see the cathedral, the Albaicín (the old Moorish quarter) and the stunning post card view of the Mirador de Sant Nicolas from where you look across at the Alhambra directly in front, often with the snow-capped Sierra Nevada forming a beautiful backdrop.
The tour ends in Granada.
