Arrive at Arrecife airport, transfer to hotel in Puerto del Carmen.
We drive to Hermita de las Nieves and cycle to the lovely village Haria in the Valley of the 1000 palms. Later, we continue to Cesar Manrique’s Jameos de Agua and Cactus Garden – two of the most stunning sites created by the artist. (40km cycling)
In the morning we drive to Teguise, the former colonial capital of the island. After a stop at a café, we cycle along dirt roads to the beautiful Famara beach on the northwest coast and from there via the Monumento del Campesino and later along the beach promenade of Puerto del Carmen to the hotel (50km cycling).
We drive by bus to our next hotel in the centre of the island, drop off luggage and then cycle into Timanfaya National park with its lunar landscape dating from lava eruptions in the 18th century. Later we pass through the pretty villages of Yaiza and La Geria where unique vineyards built into lava ashes are producing grapes known for making some excellent sweet wines. (40km cycling)
Today is left free for e.g. exploring Caldera Blanca on foot, one of the most spectacular craters of the island. Otherwise, time to relax at the beach.
We drive to Playa Blanca in the early morning to catch the ferry to Fuerteventura. Another transfer takes us to Tindaya village, next to the magic mountain of the indigenous Guanches. We cycle from here to La Oliva and finally to the old fishing village El Cotillo. Some beautiful beaches may tempt you to go for a dip in the Ocean before dinner. (30km cycling)
We drive to Betancuria, the old capital of the island, cycle through palm tree orchards before we cross beautiful scenery reminiscent of a Moroccan oasis and climb a mountain pass with great views before descending on our bikes into Ajuy, a fishing village with a black beach (31km cycling)
Transfer to Fuerteventura airport.
